Association AGM
Mountnessing Allotment Association held their AGM on Sunday 23rd of September followed by the annual social gathering and prize-giving. All plots had been previously judged by Mrs Jan Lovell (National Vegetable Society judge and Essex Guild of Horticultural Judges). Two trophies are presented annually as an acknowledgement of the great deal of work put in by Mr Karl Afteni, when chair of the Parish Council, in obtaining funding to bring our allotment site back into full use.
The Karl Afteni Challenge Trophy for Best Newcomer was awarded to Terry Cavanagh, and the Karl Afteni Challenge Trophy for Best Kept Plot was awarded to John Walker, with David Fowle being in second place and Chris and Julie Vaughan third. All had put in sterling work on their plots in what has been a difficult season, with only having harvested water as we have no mains supply. All the prize-winners were also presented with NAS award certificates and rosettes. Plotholders and their families then shared together in a ploughman's lunch amidst much allotment banter.
