CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
I hope that many of you were able to take some holiday time this summer whether it be at home, a staycation or even an overseas trip taking time for yourselves to switch off unwind and recharge. Life is precious and unpredictable and we should take every opportunity to enjoy it.
September represents
a new start for so many,
children starting nursery,
primary and Prince
William Schools and of
course students going off
to University for the first time. Nervous and exciting times for pupils, parents
and teachers, I remember it well. Good luck to you all as you settle in to a new academic year, a year of renewed hope and opportunities.
Events are beginning to take place and
we look forward to the Charter Fair on the 11th September and the Town Council Party in the Park on the 18th September to bring the Community together. Being mindful of
the current climate the Party in the Park will not have any food and drink stalls this year, instead we invite you to bring a picnic or use the High Street food providers and sit back and enjoy the entertainment.
My chosen charity for the year is Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service (NDAS). Domestic
abuse is one of the four current objectives for Northamptonshire Police having seen an increase of 11.3% with some 18,000 cases
last year. Domestic abuse comes in many forms and is often hidden from public view and suffered within families for years. NDAS provides refuge and support in various forms for women, men and families. I will be fundraising at events in various ways including raffles and tombolas and would appreciate any suggestions, donations and support.
