What can one say about another disastrous year for the NW Branch in which our main function in April was once again cancelled due to the new hotel owners giving the hotel up to house the ever growing refugee accommodation problem. Despite the efforts of the secretary, having contacted nearly every hotel in the Liverpool area he was unable to find a suitable venue capable of feeding and accommodating the branch together in one location. I have not given up the search for a venue somewhere in the NW as it would be a shame to close down the Branch after 37 years.
Inevitably during this period we have lost a number of members who have sadly passed away and as COVID has not made it possi- ble to attend all of their funerals I list them below. Frank Walker, Ron Currell, Mrs Sue Lewis, Harry Mitchell, Mally Ratcliffe, Dennis Cooper, Mrs. Lesley Deverall. May they all rest in peace.
On a more cheerful note I man- aged after 2 years of trying to get the Branch farewell gift to David Rutherford-Jones on his retire- ment. He was making his farewell visit to HHQ in June and had a gap between visits and came to my house and I made the presen- tation and we chatted for a while before he went off for lunch. May I on behalf of myself and all Branch members thank the staff at HHQ for their support during a very busy and stressful year.

It is that time of the year again. It was a very good turnout, 24 players in all. Can I take this opportunity to thank Tug Wilson and Dickie Dowling for doing most of the work for me.
I would like to thank Silkstone Golf Club staff for their help on the day. We were unlucky with the weather as most of us got wet through but all in all this did not spoil the day. The food was up to its normal standards.
The following people took the prizes:
Peter Cooper Jack Castle 44 points
Terry Quinn Runner up 38 points
Kev Taylor Lowest gross
Mark Simpson Nearest the pin
Dave Bennett Longest way round
Can I thank everyone for turning out this makes all the effort put into the day worth it. All my thanks. Hope to see you all next year.
