Back to reality, the LEA (Land Equipment Assurance) inspection that was already forecast on the horizon for November, is now looming so the EC handle started to turn at pace. In with the 4 Bde team to pro- vide us with a pre-inspection which, as it turned out, set the wheels in motion for a great result on the LEA inspection. This was in part down to the hard work that the regiment has continued to drive for- ward in learning their EC responsibilities and enacting them in day-to-day business, despite all the other competing activities.
The remaining bit of the year has seen some other personality changes around the dept, Sgt Brett Rowson has managed to release himself from fishing to move into A Sqn as Tp Sgt, handing over to Sgt Jack Taylor as the JAMES SNCO.

less guidance of SSgt Jay Leslie, they have all worked tirelessly to ensure the Sabre Squadrons have not been left wanting. Sadly, Jay Leslie leaves us in 2023 to pas- tures new as a civilian, good luck Jay. Next year and the predicted FOE are looking
to be no different to this, so the team are stood by to pick up the slack and rise to
the challenge.

As the year closes in on 2022, the welfare department looks back on a relatively quiet year. In the summer the Regiment celebrated LD30, held on Gaza Barracks and what a cracking day it was too. Seeing so many familiar faces was truly amazing and made for a very special occasion. The garden party of the LD30 was put together fantasti- cally by Sgt “Peech” Mallen who left no stone unturned to make sure the enter- tainment for the families and especially the children was second to none.
Over the past couple of months, the welfare team have been working hard to get the new Regimental Welfare house up and running, which we are
certain will be a huge success over the coming months. Sadly, this year the welfare team have had to say farewell to our welfare clerk, “Vee” who has moved across to become a civil servant. We wish you all the very best in your new role Vee, and have no doubt you will do amazingly. In saying this, we also wel- come our newest member of the team, Mrs Maria Cooper who has effortlessly settled into her new role with us and is already a firm part of the team.
2023 will hopefully see many activities and days out planned by the welfare team especially with future deploy- ments on the horizon.
