Urban Bumpkins – Pumpkins and a Trumpkin
In the urban deep south of the region, Gosport Allotment Holders and Gardeners Association held their Pumpkin and Produce Show in late October.
As the title suggests, the main attraction at this show is pumpkins! Pictured
are two winners - Amy More with the winning best carved pumpkin with her “#DonaldTrumpkin”. Winner of the Heaviest Pumpkin with a show record of 52 kilos (or should that be 8 stone 2lb 10oz, now that we are exiting the EU) is Barbara Bainbridge.
Jim More, the Association Vice Chairman, reported that the Village Hall in Alverstoke was once again lled up with a great range of produce, all of which was home-made and shows that the traditional skills of home baking, making and preserving are far from dying out. He added that we are always amazed at the quality of the entries in the show - there are some real hidden talents in Gosport.
The produce element of the show included the ever popular “display four vegetables
on a board” category and a huge variety of baking, preserves, photography, crafts and
