Local Council Structure
Following local government changes in April 2021, there are now two Councils serving the residents of Thrapston: North Northamptonshire Unitary Council and Thrapston Town Council. Prior to
this residents were served by three Councils: Northamptonshire County, East Northamptonshire and Thrapston Town.
Thrapston is in the North Northamptonshire Unitary Council area, which was compiled from the Borough Councils of Wellingborough, Kettering and Corby along with East Northamptonshire Council.
The longer term impact of the change to a unitary local authority model remains to be seen, but it may be that Thrapston Town Council is required to take on further responsibilities in time.
