 SNOWDON BLUE 23
In December over thirty OCdts and Staff spent the week before Christmas in
the mountains of Snowdonia enjoying Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing & Trekking.
As you would expect the weather in late December wasn’t perfect, however, it still allowed us to get in some quality training, introduce our recently recruited OCdts to something new and feel the power of AT. It was also a great chance for the OCdts to get together before going home on their Christmas break. The daytime training allowed First Years to try the different activities and Second Years to build their logbooks as well as preparing for qualification courses and the Summer’s Overseas Expeditions. The evenings allowed the JUO`s to take over and plan the entertainment which included a Cinema Night, Quiz Night, a Local Cultural Visit (pub night) and an
impromptu Christmas Carol Concert with Maj (Rev) Paul Whitehead on
the guitar and his backing band led by 2Lt Selway using
a variety of makeshift instruments.
For me the highlight was seeing JSAT qualified OCdts and former OCdts (now Regular & Reserve) leading the Groups and inspiring the next generations of leaders. SNOWDON BLUE remains a firm favourite in our calendar, it forms the firm base and establishes a routine which enables us to deliver those more glamourous expeditions in the summer.
