50km. This gave 4 MERCIAN a further exposure to Armoured Infantry and a greater understanding of the Battle Group picture and how a company is implemented and used within the Battle Group.
Upon returning to Camp, the members of 4 MERCIAN had a swift 24 hour turn around before returning home, and many of the group alongside other reservists ventured into Medicine Hat to experience some of
the local Canadian culture before returning home.
A section of D Company, 4 MERCIAN also accompanied 4 Yorks on Exercise Iron Wolf to Lithuania in November. Embracing the cold, the soldiers took part in a NATO exercise at Brigade level, experiencing the wooded environments of Lithuania and the interesting urban environments available
to them there. The exercise consisted of a force on force element, consisting of armour
and light infantry, finishing with a 4-day summative exercise moving from woodland to urban. The members of 4 MERCIAN were also honoured to spend the 100th year Anniversary of the ending of the Great War alongside other nationalities such as
the German Army, French and Lithuanian forces. They attended a memorial service and the British Army then took the opportunity to play football alongside the German forces, after the 11 o clock silence to commemorate how much has changed.
