Gerardo Salerno, along with his son Stefan and daughter Gabriella, have been running their family ristorante Salerno’s for seven years.
How would you best describe the type of cuisine that you offer? We serve traditional Italian food using the best of ingredients and cooked as authentically as we can.
What’s the best selling dish on your menu?
That’s a difficult one, we have so many popular dishes, but I would have to say pizza – we do over 200 a week.
...and what drink to accompany it? Morretti on tap has to be our best selling drink. What better to accompany a tasty pizza than with a cold pint?
Where do you source your ingredients?
We use various suppliers, we use Seven Wells Butchers for our meat, Total Produce for our fresh fruit and vegetables, Direct Seafoods for our fresh fish and then we use 2 suppliers for all of our Italian stock – Annessa and Carnevale.
Can your premises be hired out for private parties? We tend not to do ‘private hire’ but we can do a table for up to 30 people for a meal – which we have done many times.
Any special offers available? We do offer special dishes every now and again in which we try to use seasonal ingredients.
Are you open every day? We are open seven evenings a week. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday we open all day from 12 noon onwards.
Reserve a table or just walk in? We are more than happy to take walk-ins, however with us being so small, and tables being taken quickly, I would always recommend calling to book.
What’s the highlight of your day? I really enjoy doing desserts, it’s a chance to be a little bit creative and they never fail to impress.
