The trio (Commanding Officer, dog with bleeding lip, and Talavera) made it across the Panzer Ring Strasse before 0800hrs and nothing more need be said.
Talavera moved with the Regiment from Fallingbostel to Leuchars in 2015, but by now her health was failing, and she too started suc- cumbing to problems with her feet and legs. She was retired in 2018, moving to a rest home to gain the best care available. Talavera died in November 2021 aged 27, a good age for a horse her size.
She leaves an indelible impression on all those that knew her.
