Khasab. Along the route we stopped periodically, to allow the vehicle brakes to cool down, something we neglected on the journey out. Throughout the dura- tion, the SVR was located at Khasab port, in order to provide recovery assistance should one of the five HMTV platforms come into difficulty. On reflection it would have been extremely challenging to get the SVR over that terrain, especially whilst towing a casu- alty. For this reason, I am thankful all the vehicles per- formed well and completed the move with little issue. The exercise provided a fantastic opportunity to oper- ate at reach and gave all involved a once in a career opportunity.
On completion of both exercise a vehicle Rehabilitation was carried out, led by 5 Bn REME together with the BG LAD to ensure the vehicles returned in good order back to the UK. Once the vehicles had departed Oman, it provided the opportunity for some well-deserved down time and Adventure Training, which included

mountaineering, mountain biking, cultural visits, bat- tlefield studies, sailing and excursions to local hotels. Overall, Exercise KO & MF was an excellent deploy- ment with great training value and the experience of operating overseas.
In summary, 2021 has been a rewarding year however, we must now look forward to 2022 which appears to be another extremely busy and challenging time for both the LAD and the Regiment. The FOE is an exciting prospect starting with B Sqn build up and deploy- ment on ROTO 4 to Mali whilst the remainder of the regiment will conduct deployments to America on Ex DIAMOND BACK and a BG deployment to SPTA on Ex WESSEX EAGLE prior to preparing for Ops on ROTO 5 of Op NEWCOMBE. The LAD is prepared to meet the challenges that lie ahead with their usual passion and enthusiasm.
