 entrance and exit from the Castle due to ongoing Covid restrictions, however, much of the Band’s performance (sited outside Home Headquarters and the Regimental Museum) was covered not only by Army Media but also by ABC News across the pond!
By July, the entire regiment was once again back in Leuchars and came together for a Drumhead Service to celebrate 50 years of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys), since the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Greys and the 3rd Carabiniers; the Pipes and Drums had the honour of playing on the Standard and gave a very apt and nostalgic rendition of Amazing Grace. We also welcomed back LCpl McKay from his
Class 1 Piper’s course and LCpl Hall and Tpr Smyth from their Class 2 Elementary Drummer’s course.
Summer leave wasn’t going to stop the Band now it was getting back into the swing of public duties and getting used to the limelight again, so a miniband per- formed for a very special NATO event at Edinburgh Castle and went down a storm with the assembled mul- tinational guests. But before we knew it, leave was over and we once more found ourselves in Edinburgh pre- paring for a busy 2 months of musical marvelousness.
