We have also begun plans to develop a case for Operation Granby. This has been possible because Brigadier Ben Edwards has kindly given us a fantastic array of his kit and items collected from the conflict. For the Museum its very exciting to be donated items from this period. It may still seem very recent but The Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan are conflicts that we hold little material. We’re always happy to hear from people thinking of donating objects and items from the last 30 years; without them we struggle to tell the more recent history of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
In August our curator, Jim Gledhill, handed in his notice. He was replaced in November by Stuart Kennedy who joined from The Black Watch Museum in Perth. Over the next 12 months he will be looking at how we can continue the refurbishment of the Museum and to improve the storage of our archives. This work is vital to continue ensuring the Museum maintains its collections for future generations and gives visitors an experience that is worthy of the Regiment.
