PRESIDENT’S FOREWORD
 Brigadier Adam Corkery
What an honour it is to be writing this! Little did 2Lt Corkery know when he joined the AMA 25 years ago, that one day he would have the great privilege of becoming its President. There’s no flippancy in this – I really mean it; the AMA is a fantastic organisation that has changed countless lives over the years by giving access to activities otherwise unattainable. For others, it has been the reason they have stayed in the Army; providing a means of being with people they like, doing activities they love.
I would like to start by offering my thanks to my predecessor Maj Gen David Southall for his excellent work during his tenure – one at least partially frustrated by Covid which will be a disappointment I’m sure. I know we all wish him well for his future. Also to my friend Col Liz Dallyn who I seem to have spent quite a bit of my career alongside. Her work as our Chairman over many years has genuinely advanced the club, and she’ll be sorely missed. I hope we’ll see plenty of her in her new guise as a reservist! Thank you for all your work Liz. Welcome too to our new Chairman, Lt Col Pete Davis. Pete has been a stalwart of the AMA committee over the years and so it’s great to have him assume the Chair- manship; I look forward to working with you Pete.
I’ve been fortunate to have had a bit of time in the hills this year to contemplate what the mountains and climbing mean to me. A group of us from the Army HQ attempted the Haute Route ski tour in the spring and I then had a further week over the summer leading a different group on a via ferrata expedition in the Dolomites. Different trips for sure, but with a shared sense of camaraderie, purpose, challenge, risk and of course fun. “Does this brigadier do no work” I hear you cry. I genuinely believe in the benefits of AT activities – and particularly those in the mountains – and so ensure that I still practice what I preach. I think it makes me calmer and more able to put things into perspective I think (be that on operations, exercise or the office), and like many of you has aided in my retention in the Army for so long.
What for the future? That is largely up to you all! We are blessed with a really excellent committee who work hard to keep the club going and the opportuni- ties (large and small) flowing out to the membership. You all have a vote though and so do get involved and help us to shape the club for the future - we’d love to hear your ideas.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming years and to serving you all as President.
  MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY FOREWORD
After the delivery of each journal edition, I receive phone calls and emails from members who have not received their copy.
This is usually due to members’ details not being correct or up-to-date in our database. Unfor- tunately, a member calling the office or emailing me is the only way I am able to update such information and so I rely on you letting me know.
If I am informed, I can make any changes necessary to the details we hold such as your home address and e-mail etc.; all you need to do is drop me an e-mail to the address below.
Alternatively, you can log in to your Tahdah account and make the relevant changes yourself. If you require any assistance with your Tahdah account please let me know.
Furthermore, if you have any additional Tahdah accounts (MT, MTA, AMI), I am able to get these merged so that you only need to log in once.

CHAIRMAN’S FAREWELL
s I hand over the reins of Chair to Lt Col Pete CA
take the opportunity to say what a privilege it has been to serve as both Chair and Secretary of the AMA.
From a personal perspective, the AMA epitomises everything positive that a career in the Army has to offer: variety, opportunity, challenge and like-minded people. I would like to extend my appreciation to all of those who selflessly give their time, be it on the committee or enabling wider activity, as a volunteer ethos remains the foundation to the continued success of our association. I hope to see many of you again in the future and look forward to reading future AMA exploits in the journal. Best wishes.
ol Liz Dallyn
