Cpl Kobson, SSgt Beckett, Capt Blyth, Capt McKirdy and Maj Millinship). Following several victories and one defeat in the heats an unfortunate official’s error disrupted confidence, resulting in a knock out in the quarter finals. A disappointing result, but we’ll be back fighting next year!
Back on the track, the sprinting events were in full swing. LCpl Irving added another medal, this time a 200m silver wrapping
up an impressive all-round performance medalling in jumps, throws and sprints – a real talent to watch. WO2 Leon reached
the final in the ladies 100m and LCpl Smith, LCpl Lawati and Cpl Gurung tackled the men’s sprinting events.
Culminating into a nail-biting finish, our relay teams did not disappoint, with both our 4 x 100m (WO2 Leon, SSgt Beckett, LCpl Hull, LCpl Irving) and 4 x 400m (LCpl Larwood, Capt Blackwood, SSgt Beckett, Maj Armstrong) storming to bronze medal finishes, demonstrating real strength
in depth. The roars from Team RADC supporters trackside sent a strong message to our AMS colleagues; we are no longer underdogs!
Thank you to all our athletes who took
the time to train, compete and support each other throughout the competition. Their hard work and determination proudly showcases the RADC at its best!
Thanks also go to Capt Blackwood for all her work behind the scenes to co-ordinate logistics and administration as well as develop the team, and to those who took the time to support the team throughout the competition (including LCpl Vernon,
Col Johnston, Cols Comdt Amberton and Anderson, and Maj (Retd) Sharp).
Finally, thank you to CDO(A) Col Davies for his leadership and support to drive the RADC Team forwards at this event. Each year he has pushed us to encourage and inspire our RADC soldiers and officers to represent the Corps and demonstrate our collective talent and spirit. Without this support the achievements to date would not have been possible.
