Dental Centre Seria, Brunei – Team Bonding event at Temburong Ulu National Park Cpl Madan Limbu RADC
On 12th July 19, the Dental Team from Seria, Brunei, held a team bonding event by visiting Temburong Ulu National Park. Temburong is the easternmost district
in Brunei and is famous for its unspoiled diverse flora and fauna, mangroves along the river and dense rainforest.
On the day, everyone was excited about the trip and we departed early morning around 0630hrs via car to catch a water boat to Bangar from the ferry port at Bandar Seri Begawan. We managed to get the water boat at 0745hrs and without delay, the speedy water boat made its way along the river, crossing the dense mangroves by the sides before reaching Bangar. Mr Haddy, our tour guide was there to welcome us and he gave us a short briefing about the day trip and then we headed in a mini bus to reach to our next stop from where we took a traditional open long boat ride along the Temburong River to reach the main entrance of the Ulu Temburong National Park.
Upon arrival at the park around 1000hrs, we sat down at the local restaurant by the river for a refreshing breakfast. Soon after breakfast, we made our way up some steep steps towards the hill walk and into the dense rainforest to reach the summit and ascend a ladder for the canopy walkway, which is suspended 160 feet above the forest floor. The view from the canopy was breath taking as you look around from
the level of the highest trees and enjoy
the panoramic rainforest views and its surroundings.
At 1230 hours we made our way downhill towards the Temburong River to find the hidden beautiful waterfall. Everyone enjoyed swimming in the water around the waterfall, which was very refreshing after the tiring walk. Quickly, after the waterfall, we made our way to the next stop, an exciting and challenging rubber tube ride back down
the river. Everyone sat in their rubber tube
and started riding the bumpy waves along the river. The river had a gentle current
and luckily there were no crocodiles in this river. We used our hands as a paddle to manoeuvre along the river to get to our final stop at the Rainforest Lodge around 1400 hrs. The delicious local buffet lunch was served at the lodge and everyone enjoyed the food.
Sadly, after lunch it was time to say goodbye to Temburong and return back
via the long boat and water boat. We were back to our base safe and sound at around 1700hrs. Even though it was quite far to travel, we still had a great time and managed to complete all the tour events for the day. The visit allowed the team to bond, and share thoughts and experiences outside of the workplace.
