British Military Mission – Saudi Arabian National Guard
Brigadier Jim Tanner (right) hands over Command of the British Military Mission to the Saudi
Arabian National Guard to Brigadier Peter Dennis in Riyadh. The Editor would like to record his deep appreciation for the fact that Brigadier Tanner regularly attended the Mercian Regiment Council and was a most active Trustee for The Staffordshire Regiment Museum. Brigadier Dennis will continue to act as Deputy Colonel Mercian Regiment (Worcesters & Foresters), President WFRA and Chairman of the two WFR Museum Trustees Meetings.

Promotion
On Thursday 8th September, Watchman V was promoted to Lance Corporal in a special ceremony in the National Brewery Centre in Burton-upon-Trent. Lady Susan Hawley was asked to do the honours as she promoted Watchman III and it was also seen as a way of thanking her for all her work for the Staffordshire and Mercian Regiments since her husband became HM Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire in 1993. Lance Corporal Watchman V has taken part in numerous parades and charity events and has also featured in an RSPCA Documentary which was shown on National Television.
