                                to support the Regiment in retirement. He attended Regimental Reunions for many years and was a regular at the Field of Remembrance Service outside Westminster Abbey. He leaves behind his five children; Caroline, Sarah, Andrew, Angela and Alison.
McWRIGHT Douglas Douglas McWright died on the 30th July 2011 aged 65. He
is believed to have served in The South Staffordshire Regiment and is succeeded by his wife Pam.
MORGAN George Claude ‘Jerry’ RSM
of Nottingham died on 1 November 2011 aged 83. Jerry enlisted in 1946 into the South Wales Borderers and transferred
to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters
in October 1946. In 1953 he was posted to the 2nd Battalion in Celle as CQMS B Coy and then in 1957 was posted to the 8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters as CSM. He went to Malaya with the 1st Battalion
as Weapon Training Warrant Officer before taking up an appointment as CSM A Coy in Burma Camp in 1959. He was appointed CSM HQ Coy in 1961 and RQMS at Colchester in 1964. In 1965 he was posted as RSM to the 5th/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters finishing his Army career in 1968 as RSM at the Depot, Lichfield. He later became a Justice of the Peace on the Nottingham Bench.
NEED John Lt Col of Coggeshall, Essex died on 9 December 2010 aged 81. He was commissioned into The Sherwood Foresters in July 1949 and saw service with the 8th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters as Adjutant
from 1956-58 before moving to the 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters to Malaya 1958-59, he was then appointed as Staff Captain A (PS) at GHQ FARELF 1959 to 1961. He returned to 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters before moving as GSO2 (GLO) to RAF Bruggen in Germany. After a period at Ecole Superieure de Guerre in Paris as a student he returned to 1 Foresters before being appointed Chief Instructor A/Tank Div School of Inf in 1970. He then moved to Ethiopia to serve as Military Defence Attache and then to the Belgium Forces to serve as Liaison Officer to Colonel in Chief. He retired from the Armed Forces in 1978 and became a Civil Servant with the MOD.
PRIEST Colin Capt
Of Chaddesley Corbett, Worcestershire died on 2 July 2011 aged 91. He received an emergency commission into The Worestershire Regiment in 1940 and served during WW2 with the 10th Battalion in Ireland
and also 7th Battalion in India and Burma and was demobilized in 1946.
RAINBOW Alec Dr PhD 2Lt of Palmerston, New Zealand died on 9th November 2011 aged 76. He was called up for National Service from Nottingham University and was commissioned into the 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters in
March 1953. He served in Wuppertal as a Platoon Commander and Celle as Asst Adjutant and IO. After leaving the Army he did his post graduate course in Tropical Plant Medicine and moved to Cameroon. He then moved to the Horticultural Centre, Private Bay, Levin, New Zealand.
RANCE David E 2Lt of Boreham, Essex died on 20 August 2011 aged 76. David was called up for National Service in
1953 and served with The Worcestershire Regiment, he underwent recruit training
at Norton Barracks and then attended Eaton Hall OCS. Commissioned into
the Regiment in 1954 he served with the 1st Battalion in Iserlohn. On leaving the regiment he had a successful career with a leading London law firm.
READER Kenneth ‘Spaz’ Cpl of Sinfin, Derby died on 26 December 2010 aged 62. He enlisted into 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters in October 1966 and served until October 1975. He took up employment with
BOC Derby and also became a member of SOVA a charity working with young people.
REYNOLDS Arthur Arthur Reynolds died on the 6th March 2011 aged 78. He served with 1st Battalion, The North Staffordshire Regiment in Trieste and Korea and was
a member of the West Bromwich Branch Regimental Association. His funeral took place at West Bromwich Crematorium, 12th August 2011.
ROSE Arnold Pte of New Ollerton, Nottinghamshire died on 2 September 2011 aged 83. He enlisted in 1945 and served with the 1st and 2nd Battalion The Sherwood Foresters Regiment in Palestine, Aden, Cyprus and
Germany, he was discharged in 1957 and became a coal miner.
SCIVENS Roy Roy Scivens died on 14th October 2011. He enlisted in March
1953 and served for three years with 1st Battalion, The North Staffordshire Regiment
and was with them in Korea. He was a member of Stoke-on-Trent Branch of
the Staffordshire Regimental Association and was Branch Standard Bearer until he became too ill. He was cremated on the 26th October and is sadly missed.
SEIBERT Charles ‘Charlie’ Pte of Carshalton, Surrey died on 30 March 2011 aged 89. He joined the 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters from the Royal Artillery in Italy in early 1944 just before the assault on the Gothic Line. He continued to serve with C Company 2/5 Battalion in Greece and Austria before he was posted to The Loyals in 1946.
SHAW Ron Ron Shaw passed away on the 17th October 2010. He served with 1st Battalion, The Staffordshire Regiment in the 1960s and 1970s and rose to the rank of WO2. He was a much respected CSM of
C Coy.
SIDDONS Clive
Corporal Clive Siddons died unexpectedly on 16th April 2011, aged 49. Clive enlisted in 1971 and served with 1st Battalion, The Staffordshire Regiment until 1982. He was initially in B Coy and we
believe that he did at least two of the Battalion’s Northern Ireland tours. He was known as ‘Sarah Siddons’. After he left the Army he settled in Bristol and worked as a painter and decorator, before moving to the pub trade. His funeral took place on the 4th May at Pucklechurch Church near Bristol. He had a son from his first marriage called Craig. In 1982 he married Anita and they had two daughters, Kirsty and Gemma.
SLATER Arthur Pte of Halesowen died on 12 August 2011 aged 78. He was enlisted into the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment in 1951 and served with the Support Company in Malaya. After discharge he became a baker and owned his own business.
SMITH John ‘Smudger’ Pte of Dudley, West Midlands died on 6 September 2011 aged 73. He joined the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment as a National Serviceman in 1958 and served in Germany and Jamaica until discharge in 1961. He then took up employment with British Leyland and later in a a local glass works.
