Friends of the Regiment at Uttoxeter Races, Major Dan Moore on the right. Uttoxeter Races
On Sunday 2nd October 2011 the Officers attended the Uttoxeter Races Meeting. A broad cross section of Regimental members attended including Serving Officers, Retired Officers and strong contingents of both Army Cadet Force and Friends of the Regiment. The directions were easy, go to the Race course, enter and then look out for Lance Corporal Watchman V. This was full proof as everyone found the room which we hired. Then we had the annual question about the Tote, whether to pick horses by their colours, names, or sixth sense opinions on the look of the horse, whether to choose Irish horses, Irish jockeys or whatever.
The Staffordshire Regiment Challenge cup was won by Grandad’s Horse. For the record, the horse was owned by White’s of Coventry, trained by Charlie Longsdon and ridden by Kielan Woods. The colours were Black Yellow seams, so on this occasion, betting on the colours was correct. Mrs Jacs Williams presented the trophy, escorted by Colour Hedges and Lance Corporal Watchamn V.
Our thanks go to Jenkinsons the Caterers for yet another excellent meal, the bar staff from F Company Burton-upon-Trent and Sally Anne from Uttoxeter Races, for all their help in making it a relaxed and enjoyable occasion.
  Staffordshire Regiment Officers’ Dining Club
The Staffordshire Regiment Officers’ Dining Club held their luncheon in the Indian Army Room at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on Saturday 23rd July 2011.
Seventy six Officers and wives attended. Loyal Greetings were sent to HM The Queen and to our Patron, HRH the Duke of York. Brigadier Andrew Williams, presided and spoke abut the excellent work being done by the Third Battalion, who at the time were half way through their tour of duty. We were honoured to accept a massive donation for the museum Appeal Fund, from Mike Gooley. Our grateful thanks go to the staff of ESS for arranging both the catering and serving. The location was popular and it is likely that we will return there in 2013.
Directions - find Watchman, find the room.
