Recreate their own 71 degrees North!
A group of Mount CCF pupils spent part of the February half term 2011, in Norway in freezing conditions as low as -28OC, whilst learning survival techniques from former Special Forces instructors, who led the expedition.
Cadets dug snow holes, practiced avalanche drills, skied cross country; ice climbed up frozen rivers, used dog sleds into the frozen wilderness and learnt to survive in conditions well below freezing.
Lt. Colonel Glyn Powell, who commands the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at the Mount and went on the trip with Lt Alison Hoskin and 22 cadets said, “This was a great opportunity for pupils to learn some useful survival techniques in harsh conditions, and try new experiences in Norway under expert instruction.
