Successful patrol to Rodney’s Pillar in Shropshire – 362 metres above sea level
as OTC instructors along with Becky Manders as a female instructor. Remarkably there was only one very short period of rain during the week. Last time Nescliffe was used for a camp it rained every day! S/Sgt Salter was conscripted

Commander Carter dreamt about the
sea and learnt the hard way to avoid hot objects! The first day was a 12 hour patrol exercise which finished with two blank firing exercises. This gave the more junior cadets confidence in using the L98 A2 weapon system. Three days adventure training
followed including a gruelling but rewarding patrol day around Rodney’s Pillar. The military day consisted of five stands testing military skills. It was pleasing that we came second in two of these – narrowly missing

victory in the vehicle checkpoint stand by one point! The final
day was a competition within the section which was divided into three teams and this included shooting on both the 0.22 and DCCT ranges. The teams were led by the Lower Sixth NCOs
who all had an excellent camp. All the cadets enhanced their skills at camp and it was a pleasing end to the year.
