One Ball courgettes
As any long term readers of the SV magazine probably know by now, I’m a huge courgette fan. Although I’m writing this in May, the fact that I will be enjoying eating homegrown courgettes by your time of reading this in July has already got me excited for the next couple of months! You just can’t beat a homegrown courgette during the summer months. And yes, that still goes for the 400th courgette! I can honestly eat them every day and not get bored.
We had success with a couple of spherical courgettes in 2021, Piccolo and Eight Ball. The former is a striped round courgette a bit like a marrow to look at, and the other is dark green all-over. We didn’t want to leave it there though, as the spherical courgettes were super tasty last year. Therefore, we’re going for a sister variety of Eight Ball this year, One Ball, which is yellow.
These were sown a couple of weeks back and are just growing on in their 3” pots for now until they’re reading to plant out. As with all our courgettes, we’ll be trying a couple of these in containers, so fingers crossed we’ll have some photos of the plants (and the end product!) to share in the next SV magazine.
