The Surrey DA are looking forward
to starting their regular meetings in September when we welcome Gerry Edwards to give us a talk on “Growing Apples and Pears on the Allotment”.
I look forward to learning how to grow them having taken delivery of 8 new trees earlier this year and any guidance will be gratefully received.
We attended the Societies Weekend at Wisley, and it was a great success, the event was held in a marquee on Wilsons Wood and attendance over the weekend was good. It was good to meet up with old friends from other societies and make new ones, the members of the public seemed pleased to be back at the event.
After setting up on Friday evening
I was worried that we had grown too many plants, on the Saturday evening
I was raiding my greenhouse and polytunnel for anything that I could add to the stand.
By 4pm on the Sunday we had sold the last plant and we all went home tired but very happy with the weekends work.
A big thank you to everyone who helped over the weekend.
I had the pleasure of being one of
the judges at the Southern Branch Championships held in conjunction with the New Forest Show, a very successful event and very well organised by Hampshire’s Ali Clarke and her team.
Watering on the allotment and garden has become a regular job, fingers crossed we will get some rain in the not- too-distant future.
