RADC Recruiting
LCpl G Bryan
When I was asked if I would like
to represent the RADC at the BDA Conference & Exhibition, held in Manchester in May, I jumped at the chance. Not only did all the freebies appeal but a couple of days out of the of ce with dental colleagues is always good fun. Our RADC team consisted
of Maj Cunningham, Maj Armer, Maj Hitchcock, Capt Porter and myself, LCpl Bryan. We had a plot alongside many other dental stands and our aim was to recruit any potential Dental Of cers and Dental Nurses. We were also there to answer any questions people had. If people showed an interest we would give them information lea ets and a copy of the RADC Bulletin
to take away with them – before we knew, many returned to our stand, lling out an enquiry form for more information.
I must say, I am not sure whether Maj Armer and me walking around in body armour and helmets drew people in or made them hide! Either way we had great fun along with the other DCP’s and reps trying on the kit. Many were surprised about the weight of the body armour alone; we were hesitant to tell them how much more weight they would have to carry on top of that; we didn’t want to scare them away at the rst hurdle! The virtual reality headset was a big player in attracting attention, with its selection of videos varying from section attacks to parachuting. It was an immersive experience, making you feel like you are actually there doing it – enough to make anybody want to join the Army!
We also had the opportunity to catch up with Col (Ret’d) Sara Hurley who lled us
in on all the exciting projects she has been working on since leaving the RADC, and
of course we grabbed the chance to get a photograph with CDO England!
Either way we had great fun along with the other DCP’s and reps trying on the kit.
