In 2022 we launched Leafyard, which is an app based mental health solution and ecosystem that uses proven behavioural science to help people take control of their own mental health.
Leafyard is different to anything previ- ously developed in this sector. For two key reasons:
Leafyard is driven by Behavioural Science: the same motivational technology used by Apple, Peloton, and Fitbit. It delivers practical wisdom and pushes users to take action along a strict timeline of positive progression. This is entirely unique, different and disruptive in the mental health space.
Leafyard uses Artificial Intelligence to adapt in real-time to the direct needs of the individual. It works with the brain’s in-built neuroplasticity and becomes a trusted guide users rely on to continually improve daily life
Since we launched Leafyard over 50 veterans of our community and their family members have signed up to use the app. We believe Leafyard can play an important part in helping users to take control of their mind and increase their positive thoughts. Access to Leafyard is offered at no cost, it is entirely funded by the Regiment’s Charitable Trust.
Leafyard is used on an entirely anonymous basis, we have absolutely no idea who has signed up for it, but we are able to monitor how it is being used both through statis-
tical and verbatim feedback. The statistics provide a feel for user’s quality of sleep, how they rate their ability to stay focused on tasks, how they rate their perception that things are ok and getting better, how relaxed and at peace people feel and how they rate their mood. It is notable overtime how the statistics evidence significant improvements in key areas of well-being through using the app.
Perhaps the most relevant statistic of all when users are asked how likely it would be that they would recommend Leafyard to a friend or family member that they knew was struggling with their mental health and the average score is 8.90 out of 10. This provides the strongest evidence to support why we offer this and are keen for more people to use it.
Don’t just take my word for it, this is what some of our users think.
What did you like best about Leafyard?
“Putting you at ease knowing you’re not alone.”
“In the past I was in denial about my situation, Leafyard allowed me to process my thoughts at a speed I was ready for and it enables me to dip in and out if I have a bad day.”
What was the main difference you noted within yourself after using Leafyard?
“My anger management improved as I am less prone to losing my temper now I can recognise triggers that are setting me on the path to rage.”
“I feel more confident.”
What would you think of an employer organisation who gave you access to Leafyard as a gift, free of charge?
“As a member/veteran of The Light Dragoons I will be forever grateful for the gift and the unwavering non-judgmental close support of people I love and respect as brothers who shared some of the best and darkest times of my life.”
“I am so proud of the regiment and thankful as my two sons were serving with them.”
Leafyard also has significant clinical support. An evaluation undertaken by the Academic Department of Military Mental Health at King’s College London supported the use of Leafyard, concluding that “the app offers an exciting CBT based platform in the Promote, Prevent, Detect and Treat spaces and has the potential to improve the mental health of our personnel”
While you may feel this is not for you, if you know somebody from your current or former regimental network that could do with a little bit of help, please point them in the direction of Leafyard, the more this is used, the better. The regimental trustees are only too delighted to fund this initiative to the benefit of our regimental community.
To take advantage and request a gift card for you, a member of your family or a fellow Light Dragoon please email rhq@lightdra- goons.com or visit www.leafyard.com/ lightdragoons to sign up electronically.
