Thrapston Charter Fair
It’s over for 2018, but Lindsey Burch is getting ready for 2019!
As Chairman of our local Charter Fair I would like to thank all of you who came and supported this year’s fair. It was the biggest turnout yet, some say, the best fair yet. For me, personally, I missed our President, Bryn Wright, who was in hospital, very unwell. Bryn has been on the committee for many years years, and his experience is invaluable. Many of you asked me to pass on get well messages to Bryn – which I have done.
We pray he is back with us soon – to start planning next year’s fair and keeping us all in order. Mr Charter Fair is what we call him.
Thank you to all who supplied raffle prizes, helped set up and take down on the day. For all who ran a stall – we hope you all did very well. Special mention to Cam Cairns – our youngest helper and Honorary Committee Member. He ran and decorated the free tin can alley all afternoon [with a wee bit of help from friends and dad Gerry]. He has given
us good feedback from a child’s viewpoint – Cam is a future Chairman I think.
Thank you to Dreamers, Dynamix, YIP, Step and Groove,Thrapston Primary School Choir, Shane and Matt – all who sang or danced on three stages over the afternoon. Special thanks to Steve Jeffery our MC- fantastic job, Brownies who did teas in
the Plaza and the Church who served refreshments and had Teddies on a zip
wire from the bell tower. These extra bits all enhance the fair and we encourage them.
For all who dressed up and made trolleys, this was the best year yet for people joining in these events. Well done Brownies for winning the Sara Coyle Trolley Trophy [in honour of a great friend and supporter of CF]. To all the shops and businesses who help us and support us – well done Jollys
on a superb window. Special thanks to Dreamers Chris and Lindsay Latimer, and their team, who set up and took down the end stage, who were the trial run for it – who had faith it would work.

Thank you to Thrapston Town Council for the use of the Plaza for meetings. We are always keen for new committee members to join our AGM on September 12th at 7.30pm.
We changed things this year – and were pleased with how it all went. We do this
for the community. We are all members of the community and volunteers; we are not council run. My committee work hard all year (they do far more than me) and I am very grateful for them. I often get the thanks but they are the real workers and I thank them all.
I know I can’t thank everyone who helped make the day a great one, but you know who you are – and Charter Fair Committee thank you all. We can’t do this without the Communities support. Thrapston we thank you. We already have new and exciting ideas for next year – any ideas for themes, let me know. This is one of the biggest events in Thrapston and we are always looking for ways to change and improve it.
