The conclusion of Ex IRON CYCLONE saw a BATUS style vehicle rehab with crews working around the clock to ensure the fleet was in the best state possible prior to summer leave; this gave opportunity for the RQ(T) to live out his career aspira- tion as a forks operator and the reappearance of the legendary ENDEX burger tents. With the fleet rehabbed and locked away the department’s attention quickly flicked fire to assurance.
This article would not be complete without mentioning the LEA; in fact, the QM(T) is finding it difficult to strike up a conversation now it is over... The hard work and prepara- tion that went into this assurance check was colossal with unsung heroes from all corners of the Regiment burning the midnight oil to achieve great results. WO1(ASM) Jack Coates, Mr Mossop and SSgt Spencer all put in an outstanding shift educating the Squadrons on equipment care and fleet manage- ment. On occasions it looked like a mass retreat from the tank park if it was known they were looking around. In all serious- ness the diligence and advice given has really raised the bar across the Regiment. SSgt Aldridge and his team also put in an outstanding shift, having to quickly adapt to last-minute policy changes on lifting and recovery equipment and adopt- ing them across the Regiment, Domino’s Pizza has made an

absolute killing from them; so much so it rumoured they may establish a distribution point within the LAD hanger! The LEA was a great result and has once again proven that the KRH are at the top of its game and a glowing example of what good looks like within the Brigade.
The Department is now gearing itself up for Ex COMBINED RESOLVE; aligned to a US airborne brigade in Germany this should present some interesting challenges with supply. In preparation the A2 will begin training in licencing and heavy goods vehicles, it will also conduct basic skills and drills on Salisbury Plain in the New Year. We also say goodbye to some of the team over the course of early 2024. Sgt Alan Kendall will be completing a full career; a true character within the depart- ment whose knowledge of G4 will be greatly missed. SSgt Maher also leaves us after completing a full career; deciding to reward himself at the end of long career in G4 with a civi job doing exactly the same thing! His replacement Sgt Arron McLaughlan will be taking up the post of EE SNCO. Last, but by no means least, LCpl Hayward will be leaving us to pursue a career on the railways. All are wished the very best in their future endeavours.
