was on hand to give his rendition of Ramstein. It is safe to say it was another break from the norm for the mess, the event went down a treat and could potentially be something that will be lined up in the calendar for future years to come.
WO2 Mark Lees and his committee worked tirelessly over the year (Recces with beers!) to bring ‘Ramnuggar out’ alive. The Old Thorns hotel was the chosen venue, intimate enough to host the event and do it justice but affording MMs the perfect opportunity to make a weekend of it with their partners. The sales pitch was easy, it is cheaper, it’s nicer, it will give better service, but more importantly, no set up or clear down. It was a welcome change; albeit a bit odd to not have to do any form of preparation. Is it really Ramnuggar if you are not up a ladder

stapling crimson and primrose bunting up and moving furni- ture for two weeks?! Despite a final panic that they had in fact booked an Oompah Band to give a rendition of Coburg, the committee brought it all together and delivered a truly memo- rable evening.
The SSgts delivered this year’s personal development week under Project Balaclava. IRTB, Mock Reports and grading boards and an infamous trip to Monkey World were on this year’s agenda. Whilst the WO contingent spent the day at Main Building learning the hows and whys of how this great organisation does business. This week is a fantastic opportu- nity for MM to get away from office, bind as a mess cohort and see where they can look to add value in other ways.
As the year drew to a close, time in camp finally allowed for some of the more traditional nights to resume, most welcome of all being hosting the regimental boxing evening. The CO making a conscious effort not to invite anyone from outside of the Regiment giving way to some well-earned down time together. Finally, a traditional Christmas Officers to Seniors took place albeit with novel games; rounders, “chicken” and Frisbee. Both teams put forward an eclectic mix of competitive players, but the SNCO cohort retain their crown for another year. The Carols as always were brutal, with amateur dramat- ics included for good measure, the mess spies were able to bring out all of the truly remarkable exploits, and whilst its sometimes easy to forget, it reminds us of all the fun we have along the way.
