Remembrance service in Islamabad with Brigadier
The visit to Bahawulpur culminated with an excellent dinner night, hosted by Colonel Kashim and the officers of the 2FF Guides Infantry, their pipes and drums band gave us a fine send off. The Lts returned to Islamabad in time to attend a remembrance Sunday service before returning home.
The time with the Pakistani Guides Cavalry and the Regiments of the Pelican Division was a great success and special thanks must go to Lt Saad, Captain Mustafa, Captain Ghazi, and Colonel Raza who hosted us with such excellent generos- ity. Lts Campbell and English returned boasting of having made friends from K2 to Karachi and look forward to visiting Pakistan again in the future.
Hearing of how well Lts English and Campbell had been hosted in Pakistan, Captain Oldroyd had set the agenda; The officers of the Guides Cavalry had never visited the UK and

as a result a full experience was required. The Pakistanis were given a tour of London’s highlights starting with the HAC’s 62 gun salute for the King’s Birthday, followed by the Officer’s Dinner night at the Cavalry and Guards Club. Further to this their time at the Regiment happily coincided with a Mess Flashman Lecture by the Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle Speaker of the House of Commons. By the end of the two quick weeks in the UK The Guides Cavalry Officers had been taken shooting, commanded a CR2 and had explored Edinburgh whilst hosted by Major Black at 51 Bde HQ. The exchange has been a fantastic experience for the King’s Royal Hussars and Guides Cavalry and a great opportunity to renew a relationship that has lasted for generations. We thank Major Julian Hill RA and Brigadier Paul Hayhurst from the British High Commission Islamabad for enabling this exchange and hosting us in Pakistan.
