updating and merger of our collections so, although a fund- raising campaign is being planned for launching in May, it has provided the all important impetus to crack on without further delay. A truly wonderful and important legacy indeed.
We are now working closely with Garry Hall of H&H Designs to deliver the merging and updating of the museum. His com- pany designed the present layout back in 2004/5 so knows the museum well and is keen to bring his skills to its modernisa- tion some 20 years later. In addition to the Spencer legacy, we will be launching a two year fundraising campaign in May 2024 which, if successful, will allow the museum to be fully updated to include the 14/20H collection, and to make the very best use of available and affordable technology, lighting and modern display methods. The space will remain the same so different techniques will be used to radically improve and maximise the impact.
Our extensive archives are being rummaged to produce new and exciting stories so there will be much that is fresh and not seen before. The serving regiment will be given more promi- nence than previously and there will be space designed into the layout for hosting parties of school children, talks and other related gatherings. All details will be communicated on the museum website, but the initial tranche of work (and resulting temporary closure of the museum) is planned for late autumn 2024.
Whilst applications for funding will be made to grant giving bodies, we hope very much that the regimental family will fully support this important campaign to give KRH the inclu- sive and modern museum that it deserves.
