   Say Hello to Harry
I am Harry James, your NAS Regional Representative, living in Newcastle upon Tyne.
I am a life member of NAS since 1982. My allotment is at the Three Mile in Gosforth - I have a full-size plot with greenhouse, plus a
net covered walk-in tunnel and the obligatory shed. As a young boy, I helped my father in his allotment. In the past I was chairman of a local allotment association, formed in 1916, but it was closed down by the ‘Freemen’ of Newcastle under the Town Moor Act. My passion is for allotments and always will be. Yes, we ‘Dig
for Victory’ and now we ‘Dig for Recovery’ following Covid! I retired some years ago and now my ‘day job’ is my allotment.
As your regional representative, please make contact with any issues you may have, whether horticultural or allotment issues. Allotments are my passion! Keep in touch.
The Northern Committee
The Northern Region is a new committee
with ambition. We want to increase our NAS membership; we intend to carry out a pilot survey in the Tyneside area to understand why some sites are not NAS members. We hope this will help to identify possible changes needed and it should also guide the development of a comprehensive survey which could ultimately be carried out.
  “Allotments are my passion.
As a young boy, I helped my father on his allotment.”
