A big thankyou to all our major sponsors in supporting us throughout the year, with Unwin’s, DT Brown, Jamieson Brothers, Kings Seeds, Medwyn’s of Anglesey, Garden Warehouse and Franchi Seeds all donating monies to support our various shows across the country. This makes a huge difference to us. A big thankyou also to DT Brown for their supply of Falco Turnip seeds for all our members and to AutoPots for your talks and raffle prizes throughout the year.
The NVS is delighted to congratulate our partner Jason Ralph-Smith and the team
at AutoPot Watering Systems for winning the 2023 GIMA Award for the Best Growing And Planting Product with their Tray2Grow.
The Garden Industry Manufacturer’s Association (GIMA) is a dynamic and proactive membership organisation
representing the majority share of suppliers and manufacturers within the UK gardening industry.
Tray2Grow is the completely automated, completely power-free system that offers you five ways to feed and water your plants. Seed trays, small pots, grow bags, micro herbs, and planters, can each be accommodated, making this the most versatile product in the AutoPot range and one of the most versatile irrigation systems periods. For more information, head to the AutoPot website.
AutoPot Commented
We at AutoPot are immensely proud that GIMA identified with our key aims for Tray2Grow when awarding this prestigious prize. The words of the GIMA Judging Panel represent a validation of our focus on versatility, sustainability, and simplicity
when we were designing this multi- functional plant watering system.
In the Judges view Tray2Grow features “really well thought out design and function with excellent packaging which is super informative.”
Accepting the accolade, AutoPot MD Jason Ralph-Smith said, “we’re really pleased to get this award because of the innovation, the technology, and the three years of development that’s gone into getting Tray2Grow ready. And because
of its water saving qualities, the recycled plastic used in its manufacture, plus the FSC-certified cardboards and organic inks that we’ve developed for the packaging.”

and Webmaster
roles filled
We are delighted to advise that during our Annual General Meeting (AGM), Sean James Cameron, Southern Branch, volunteered to take on the role as our Social Media Officer and not long after the AGM, Andy Wall, Welsh Branch, put his name forward to take on the role of Webmaster. Andy was co-opted into this role during our October Trustee meeting. Adding this additional level of expertise to the team is fantastic news and we
are looking forward to hearing their ideas and knowledge. Below is a brief introduction from Andy and Sean.
Social Media Officer – Sean Igrewupinthe same village as Ivor Mace in the beautiful valley surroundings
of the Rhondda
Valleys in
South Wales.
My interest in
vegetables was sparked by seeing the exhibits Ivor displayed at the local horticultural show and by the age of 16 I was already on the committee
of the local gardening society. Now living in London I record my allotment adventures, and disasters, through my YouTube channel and blog. During Autumn 2023 I took on another allotment, this time aiming to run it as a no-dig garden and to run trials on biodynamic gardening (gardening by the phases of the moon). One of my ambitions for the NVS is to launch our own podcast in 2024.
I will be responsible for all the social media for the organisation as well as developing new ways to attract new members. If you have any feedback, I’d be happy to receive it. (Contact details on page 3 or via our Facebook members site).
  Webmaster – Andy Wall
I’ve always been interested in gardening since visiting my Grandad’s allotment
as a child.
More recently
I’ve been
‘enthusiastically’ trying to grow veg in a small backyard but now I have an allotment of my own there will be no stopping me growing for table and bench. I’m interested in the history and future of vegetable gardening and believe growing your own food is a right and a privilege.
I hope to use my IT knowledge to help grow the Society and give the members the best online experience.
I’ll be working with Sean to make our online offerings the best we
can for our members. I’ve been getting my head around the current website and putting together some recommendations. In the meantime
if you have any suggestions for the website, please contact me (contact details on page 3 or via our Facebook members site).
