At our last meeting held in August we had a lecture given by David Worthington an ex Pershore horticulture college lecturer with a talk about the various methods of sowing seeds and increasing your plant stocks by using various methods of taking cuttings.
Whilst the lecture was being given, we held our annual mini vegetable show with some 11 classes and a higher number of entries than 2022 displayed by just 5 members. Our members have also been taking part in local shows with not only entries but in some cases acting as judges. We are currently trying to promote to more local growers our regular quarterly meetings to increase our numbers and assist them with handy hints and tips on the best varieties to grow and how to obtain better results even with the vast changes in our local weather patterns.
We are currently arranging our 2024 programme and our next meeting will be held on the 29th February with a lecture by Ken Whittaker talking about making the best use of your Greenhouse. This meeting will also hold our Annual General Meeting and gives members an opportunity to elect our officials and we would welcome more committee members to help spread the workload.
