   MILITARY MATTERS
AMS
Recruiting
Experience
Cpl Bell RADC
Although I have only had a short time with the AMS recruiting team it has been filled with all sorts of experiences. Since I got here in August 2017 I have travelled all over the UK helping to support and recruit for the AMS.
This job was a shock to me when I got here as it was completely different to any job I have done previously in the Army. I have been able to see people throughout their process of getting into the Army or even transferring from one corps to another. It is always brilliant to see a happy face at the end of their transition. Throughout my time here I have visited schools, colleges and universities. Our aim is to try and plant a seed as early as we can so that we can recruit high quality personnel into our many roles in the AMS. We get to talk to a wide range of people and help them to assimilate into our future AMS family.
The team also get involved in a lot of other jobs as well. For instance we have visited the Chelsea Pensioners and taken them for a tour around the Science museum in Kensington. This
was done as part of a
social media campaign
‘Pride in our past’. This
goes to show that we
not only recruit new
faces into the AMS but
we also look after the
people that have had
a big influence in how
we live today.
Not only have I
had some great chances and experiences within the role but I have also had lots of opportunities to take part in sports and unique events. I get to attend the Phase One

parades and see the newest additions to the AMS pass out. These days always have a great atmosphere and a sense of pride all around. I have also had the opportunity to try
a few different sports,
including Badminton, Lacrosse and Rugby, which potentially I
might not have been able to get away with in unit. Overall the job is very rewarding and I have enjoyed all aspects of it.
