the rain. With all the training it never became a problem and I concentrated on avoiding blisters, but it happened and, without the time to heal, my personal hell was removing the blister packs and re-applying them every session to try and fight against it.
Listen to Command
At the beginning of every session, they told you it was going to be rough, they told you 95% of what was going to happen and they told you what would get you a red card. Listen to this, it is vital because mentally you can tick things off as they go but know what you need to put everything into and what you can settle into.
Enjoy the Weekends
Eat well, sleep loads and just don’t have plans. Simple but it’s brilliant to chill and recover as much as possible.
Final Thoughts
If I could give any advice it is that it does not matter as to the size or the build of the person, every variation passed and every type also failed. If you can run with weight and tab at fast speeds for over two hours,
then you have a good chance.
Don’t misunderstand this as me saying it
was a breeze. It’s paaaaaaainful and will take you to dark places, almost on a daily basis. But it is achievable for any service personnel with a strong mental attitude and robustness
to keep bouncing from one challenge to
the next. Plus, as with traumatic events, the people around you very quickly become your closest mates and make light of having a “jolly around the Land of Nod” for two hours.
