Bridge Club
I am an enthusiast of card games, in particular the game of bridge which has everything from luck to skills.
It requires 4 players in partnership across the card table. In other words, you play in a team
of two and agree to certain tactics which would get you to a level of bidding which outbids
your opponents! I’m sure this may be a little complicated until you see it in action. It is really an advanced form of Whist without being told what Trumps are – as you and your partner decide what is the best Suit to play in. The
suits are in alphabetic order: Clubs being the lowest and Spades the highest. However, just to confuse things there is a bid called No Trumps which outranks all suits at each level of bidding.
To help, we have bidding boxes (see red picture) with all the bids in the right order.
There is a Bridge Club in Oundle, as there are in most towns in the country, but before you go it takes about a year to train you up to the right level of skills!
