ITT Phase 1 Parade

On the 15th of September the Royal Army Veterinary Corps welcomed eleven new dog
handlers who will now embark on their Phase 2 trade training.
A special well done to Private Frost who won two awards for Soldiers’ Soldier, and best recruit. Private Frost was deemed the hardest working amongst their fellow recruits and the highest overall performance as a soldier from their chain of command throughout the course.
Ciara Allan had her family cheering her on, on the day and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight!
Pte Allan:
“I’ve always had a deep love for dogs and a strong desire to serve my country. The idea of combining these passions and becoming an Army Dog handler is incredibly exciting for me. The opportunity to work closely with these intelligent and highly trained dogs, forming a bond and relying on each other in challenging situations is something
I have always dreamed of doing. Becoming an Army dog handler allows me to fulfil my passion for working with dogs whilst serving my country.”
Pte Allan is excited to start her Phase 2 training and begin to
learn the techniques and skills to effectively work with the military working dogs. She is also looking forward to beginning practical training such as decoying and going on exercise.
All the Soldiers from the RAVC received an AMS tote bag, their first RAVC TRF’s and a leather notebook. Everyone was thrilled with their gifts and were all excited to go greet their families who were eager to embrace them when they were finished with the parade.
Pte Obeney wanted to become a dog handler since he was little. He grew up around dogs and a military family. Pte Obeney really enjoyed Phase 1 training and is now keen
to learn how to properly care for a military working dog and how to work them.
Additionally, we would like to congratulate the twenty-five soldiers who promoted this month from Pte – LCpl.
