RAVC Chelsea In-Pensioner Barrie Davey at the AJEX Parade and Celebrating Hanukkah 2023

How did it all start? Barrie Davey was invited to attend the AJEX parade
(Sunday 19th November) before the parade AJEX have a meeting at No 1 Kingsway and this is where they all gather before going onto Horse guards Parade to form up for the march past.
Following the march past, everyone congregated for a spot
of nibbles, it is there, that Barrie spotted a chap in uniform wearing an RAVC stable belt. Knowing all the people there would be Jewish, he was astonished to see a serving Vet, so he made his way over and introduced himself. At this moment neither Barrie nor Daniel (serving Vet) had ever met, but there was an instant bond.
Since this time, Daniel and Barrie have done their best to foster a good relationship between the RAVC, The Royal Hospital Chelsea, and AJEX (Association of Jewish
EX Servicemen) to this end Barrie and Daniel arranged a Hanukkah celebration, the first one was held in The Royal Hospital Chelsea Chapel and was deemed a great success.
The second one in the Chelsea Synagogue, just round the corner from the Royal Hospital, where the RAVC Regimental Secretary Kristy McComiskie kindly joined us for the celebration. Barrie and Daniel continue to remain friends, the rest
is history as they say.
