                                   INTRODUCTION OF CRAIG WHEELER
It is a pleasure to have been asked to be Mayor of Thrapston for a second time. I originally joined the Town Council as
a member of the public on a Youth Working party. Having never had anything to do with local government I found myself very keen to do more with the Council and was co-opted in January 2014.
I was born in Shrewsbury,
Shropshire in 1991 the middle one of three boys. I started my career as a Customer Service Assistant at One Stop and I am now a Store Manager for Central England Co-op.
Having lived in Thrapston now for over 18 years I well and truly call this home. From natural beauty spots we are lucky to have around us, to the beautiful riverside walks, there really is nothing better.
As my Mayoral year begins as Chairman, we sadly say goodbye to two long-standing councillors at Thrapston Town Council. Val Carter has served as Mayor for three terms (2012-13, 2015-16 and 2021-22) and been a Councillor for 15 years. Diana Charles has sat on the Council since 2015. Both will be greatly missed and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Val and Diana for their continuous hard work and dedication over
the years to Thrapston Town Council and local residents.
For my Mayoral year I will
be supporting the Haemophilia Society as my chosen charity. The Haemophilia Society is
a charity close to my family
as our youngest son Arthur
was diagnosed with Severe Haemophilia B when he was
10 months old. The charity has been amazing with their support
for our family, and I want to give back to them so that they can support other families who receive a diagnosis.
My Mayoral events are going to be family focused to reflect my own belief in family values and my wish to include more of Thrapston’s community in the Town Council’s events. I will be posting about upcoming events I am holding across the Council’s social media channels as well as noticeboards throughout the town. I hope that I can count on your support at these events.
I look forward to celebrating with residents throughout the year at Town Council events like the Party in the Park in September, Christmas Festival in November and Quiz and Chips in January.
