 SYC Rambles
The regular Yacht Club rambles have resumed again for winter season 2018/19. In October, a
very enjoyable walk was joined by several members which took in the coast path to Gara, with coffee at the newly refurbished Gara Rock restaurant and an excellent bowl of soup back at the club.
We revert to morning walks and lunch at the club as winter draws on, followed by afternoon walks and supper in the spring. Other venues include Dartmoor and Dartmouth/ Kingswear, always ending up back at the Club for a meal.
All welcome, including dogs, watch out for information on the events calendar.

STORIES
Thank you to our scribes
Thank you to David Greening for his regular Race reports which recall in interesting detail the weekly happening in the Estuary. We hope others are inspired to join in the fun.
David is ably assisted by guest writers from time to time who include Malcolm Mackley, Graham Cranford-Smith, Simon Dobson and Tim Fells. Graham even won a Yachts & Yachting report of the month for his fine, articulate and sensitive way with words!
Whether supplying photos or words we love hearing from you.
Thank you all.
Martin Payne continues his winning ways in Dragons
2018 has been a busy year racing with a variety of clients. The photo is with husband and wife team (Chris & Gilly Britain), who were delighted to win the biggest cup during Cowes Week, the Island Sailing Club Trophy. Although 4th overall, this was the one all Dragon Sailors aspire to take home.
Other results have included 3rd overall in La Baule, 4th at the Open Dutch Championships (Medemblik) & 9th at the Regates Royal in Cannes...
Aoyoma from Japan to 10th at the prestigious Edinburgh Cup held in Torquay. He also finished one place behind yachting legend Peter Gilmore with Chinese Film Star Tony Leung at the Europeans. His first ever regatta!
In 2019, as the International Dragon Sailing Co-ordinator, Martin will help organise the Gold Cup, Europeans & 4 Grade 1 events.
SYC are always grateful when Martin is able to be Race Officer back in his home port.
Martin was delighted to guide Bocci
