Although many aspects of the usual training pro- gramme have been changed due to Covid, there were still opportunities for The Trust to support life at Sandhurst. The International Pace Sticking competition was, as ever, a hard-fought event which, this year, was enhanced by a team from The Royal Hospital, Chelsea. The team of vener- able veterans acquitted themselves well and cer- tainly brought a splash of colour to Old College Square. The winners were, however, the team from the Pakistan Army whose high-stepping precision drill repeated their success of 2019.
The Trust has also supported the thriving moun- tain bike club at Sandhurst with the provision of two bicycles, a termly maintenance grant and by funding part of the cost of the ‘pump track’. This is an artificial cross-country circuit featuring hills and banks to enable the cadets to prac- tice techniques in a safe environment before being let loose on Barossa. Located alongside the perimeter fence close to Zayed Lines (The Redoubt for the greybeards amongst you), the track has been in almost constant use through- out the lockdown.
