 OCdt Barnes impress/demoralise the group with his various tricks, LCpl Gillespie felt the team were ready to progress. The team tackled a blue route that demanded various skills. The 3.5km route twisted and turned through dense wood- land, testing their new-found abilities. The first day provided a strong platform for the upcoming exercise.
Following on from the previous day’s success, the Cadets embraced the challenge of attempt- ing the ‘Devils Staircase’. The route from Kin- lochleven to Altnfeadh proved to be an experi- ence the team would not forget. Having walked up the mountain, the famous steep rocky descent awaited. What should have been a relatively brief experience quickly turned difficult, with the team suffering six punctures. To compound this, the weather rapidly shifted from being a picturesque scene, to heavy rain and hail. The team reacted quickly, taking cover under the emergency shel- ter whilst LCpl Gillespie and OCdt
Hills. Once the route was agreed upon, each leg was navigated by the Cadet in charge to put the skills learnt at the Royal Military Academy
 Barnes repaired the bikes. Once the situation finally subsided, all those involved were able to take a step back and fully embrace the unique, once in a lifetime view. This moment encapsulated the rewards on offer when taking on such chal- lenging tasks.

Sandhurst into practice. The mountain biking proved a huge success with all Cadets flourishing under the pressure. The reward of being at the top of hills overlooking Edinburgh is a moment the Cadets will not forget.
EX SCOTCH CADET taught each member of the team to embrace challenges and responsibility, whilst also offering the opportunity for those cadets to put into practice the lessons learnt during their time at Royal Military
 The OCdts spent the following
three days on the Pentland Hills in
Edinburgh, taking on more manageable terrain to maintain the progression of the Adventurous Training. Whilst less difficult, the skills learnt were still tested with the pace increasing throughout. To further challenge the OCdts, LCpl Gillespie gave each Cadet the responsibility of planning their individual legs throughout the Pentland
