and trainers), we set off on the Miners’ Track, which is one of the gentler routes up Snowdon; however, it still presented some challenges at the top. The climb was worth the effort though, and we were treated to beautiful views and (rea- sonably) clear skies once we had reached the summit.
Our next hike was to be Tryfan, and was tougher. Tryfan is a mountain in the Ogwen Valley and is extremely popular with hikers. However, on the day it was wet and windy and we found our- selves alone on the ascent, entertaining each other with tales of hardship from Sennymand Province. The route chosen was the north ridge, which was more of a scramble than a hike, but the view at the top was worth the effort.
In the following days we went on various other hikes including Glyder fawr, Mynydd Pencoed, Cwm Llugwy, and finished the week with a spot of micro-navigation in the rain, making us won- der if we had somehow been transported back to Old College. However, it was undoubtedly a useful morning and was a useful way to end the expedition.
