SERGEANT INSTRUCTOR JANINE CLARK took on the responsibility of administering the BTEC activities for C Company in February 2017, a post she held until June 2020 when she was appointed as the County CVQO Officer. In this role she has led a hugely successful team of Adults to deliver vocational quali- fications to the County’s Cadets. This has required her to coordinate training weekends with external trainers and internal stakeholders.
COLOUR SERGEANT LIAM BROOK was appointed as Officer in Charge of City of Leeds Sea Cadet Unit in July 2021 and in January 2022 he was appointed as the Commanding Officer. Throughout his career, he has shown outstanding dedication to the Royal Marine Cadet Detachment and to the unit at City
of Leeds Sea Cadets; he also continues to Support District, Area and X Ray Company in a supporting and leading role at events, training weekends or Camps.

CAPTAIN SHANE HOPKINSON is an outstanding example of a dedicated Adult Volunteer, who has provided more than thirteen years of voluntary service to Yorkshire (North and West) Army Cadet Force. He frequently volunteers for additional duties and overcoming any challenges put before him in order to succeed. More than the average volunteer, he is always willing to help and support cadets and develop staff where he can.
LIEUTENANT MICHAEL O’CONNOR’S impact on
the lives of his cadets has been significant and he has created flagship detachments. However, it is
his activities during the COVID Pandemic which
are particularly noteworthy when for a prolonged period, owing to staff illness and absence; he assumed command of his Company and also the duties of Staff Officer (Training) in addition to his own Administration duties. Throughout this challenging period, he led by example and provided dynamic leadership. He implemented “on-line training” as a means of maintaining cadet engagement followed by Expedition Training Days and team building activities.
