                                jungle-based patrol exercise seeking to replicate the UK’s prestigious Exercise CAMBRIAN PATROL in Wales. Tested against their survival skills, riverine oper- ations, close target reconnaissance and jungle warfare skills, the teams performed exceptionally against the experts of that environment and we look forward to returning in 2024.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
In a humbling opportunity, B Coy were asked to assist with the burial service for Rifleman Frederick Thomas Adams of B Coy 2nd Battalion The Rifle Brigade, KIA 19 November 1917 at Passchendaele. A bearer party, firing party, bugler and chaplain all made the journey to Belgium to ensure the first world war soldier was finally put to rest by fellow Riflemen.
SPORT AND ADVENTURE TRAINING
Despite the busy year, the battalion has continued to provide wider opportuni- ties for sport and adventure training. A force protection deployment to Kenya allowed members of B Coy to experience the best adventurous training Kenya has to offer, supplemented with safari excursions. In March, the battalion trained a host of novice to expert alpine skiers in the Tyrol Region of Austria. Complete novices learnt how to ski on the greens and blues of the Tyrol region’s largest ski resort and the more experienced were able to tour up the beautiful Sellrain Valley. Our Nordic skiers achieved great success in the male and female indi- vidual and team categories at the Divisional and Army championships earlier this
year. Highlights include 1st Novice Team (in every event) in the divisional championships, 1st Overall Individual Female at Divisional championships and 11th at the Army Championships (2nd Novice Team). As I write, our teams are training in Sweden and hope
