alongside the Band and Bugles. Four Rifles Warrant Officers framed the main entrance to Westminster Abbey, and the Equerry to Her Majesty caused some- thing of a stir on social media. Our relationship with Her Majesty and our other Royal Colonels remains extremely strong. We were delighted to see them at the Biennial Awards Dinner in November, which was another splendid but heart- warming ‘family’ occasion.
Regimental Headquarters remains the backbone of our organisation, quietly, and with selfless commitment, ensuring our veterans and serving Riflemen get the support they need and deserve. Safe to say that RHQ leads the way and is consid- ered the example of how to support an Infantry Regiment. This support has been especially important during a continued period of economic difficulty, which has been most acutely felt by those already facing challenging circumstances. Our Benevolence work, supported by unsung and unseen yet hard-working Trustees, is also an exemplar.
So - thank you all – and please keep up this immense effort as we face the chal- lenges to come, both on and off the battlefield. Our forefathers remained calm and resolute in times of conflict and uncertainty, skirmishing ahead of the line. We must do the same, for the next year or two are ripe with both risk and opportunity. The Nation is going to need her Riflemen, and we are all going to need each other.
Swift and Bold.
