PARTY IN THE PARK
It was bright and dewy as we walked to the Peace Park at 7:30am on 18th September. What sweet relief it was to find the fabulous residents of Market Road had kindly kept the space around the park entrance clear (thank you!).
The sound and lighting crew Moore Audio arrived shortly after we did, and the stage trundled onto the park around 8:15am.
As the morning went on slow and steady progress was made as gazebos went up, light fittings were secured, band members arrived and early bird guests secured a spot on the grass. We had First Aid covered, thanks to the East Northants First Responders, who you can find on Facebook here: @EastNorthantsFirstResponders.
The Mayor of Thrapston Cllr Carter brought a team of volunteers to help run her charity tombola stall, supporting Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service (Facebook: @NorthantsNDAS). Emergency Services cadets joined PCSO Tim Butter to give out information and wristbands.
At 2pm the event kicked off with local band Fifth Dimension, who played a range of rock and modern songs. We changed gear at 3pm with a kids disco, with added fun from Fantastiko’s stilt walker Drew. Children and adults alike enjoyed the face painting on offer from aRTy designs.
From 4pm – 8pm the Peace Park was swinging to the sounds of seven-piece professional events band ‘VIVID’.
