COMMUNITY NEWS Want to make a difference, at home and abroad?
Rotary has become much more active in recent months. We continue to meet in person and, after such a long gap, we have been enjoying lunch at the Bridge Hotel. However, Rotary is not primarily
a lunch club and many clubs don’t meet at lunchtime or even have a meal together.
Rotary exists to serve others and we have been active in that way too. Recent activity has included continuing to help, along with members from other local clubs,
at the Nene Surgery vaccination centre. We also sent a donation to ‘Aquabox’ to help with relief efforts after the recent Haiti earthquake. The earthquake resulted in over 2,000 deaths and 600,000 people needing emergency aid. On a more
THRAPSTON COMMUNITY ROTARY SHOEBOX APPEAL
Thank you to all who came on 28th August to our Shoebox day – those who helped, those who came to make a box themselves, and those who donated money.
We cannot do this without you – Thrapston Community. We made 250 boxes which are now on their way to children and adults in need.
We are holding another ‘Make a Shoebox’ day on 23rd October 10-12pm in St James’ Church Hall. Please bring your children – all items supplied. Cost is £2 towards shipping costs.
We send boxes all year now, so next year will have three ‘Make a Shoebox’ days.
So please join us, it is a really nice activity and you are helping those in need.
local level some of our members joined with others from the Rushden Chichele Club to carry out litter picking around the Thrapston Lakes.
Our fundraising activities to help with our charity work continue, and we raised over £200 on our stall at the Charter Fair, whilst club member Alan Dodds ran the Great North Run half marathon. This will have resulted in over £700 being raised for Cransley Hospice.
Rotary needs new members who want to make a difference in their local area and further afield. If you would like to know more about Rotary you can find our page on Facebook but also find out about Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland at www.rotarygbi.org
God bless you all, Lindsey and Cindy.

THRAPSTON
CHARTER FAIR
Thank you all for supporting the fair after a difficult 18 months.
I found it very relaxed and was amazed how many new faces there were, which
is fantastic. It was like a stream flowing graciously through the town, lots of smiles, friends meeting up.
I would like this opportunity to thank my hard working committee, who worked tirelessly this year in a very short space of time. They are a fantastic Committee and work well together. We were unsure four weeks before whether we could go ahead, but luckily we could. We are all volunteers, and work with donations, sponsors, raffle and stall money.
So thank you Charter Fair Committee and volunteers from your Chairman.
God bless, Lindsey Burch
