Full rehearsals for this production began in September with a company of 28 local actors, singers and dancers. The performances will be in mid February 2022 (17th, 18th & 19th) on stage at The Thrapston Plaza accompanied by a 20 strong orchestra. Those who have been to previous productions over the last
rigours of our formal auditions to be cast in their chosen roles. There is often considerable competition with, for example, four ladies auditioning for the title role this year. Whilst our chorus members are mainly from Thrapston and the local villages, this year’s Principals come from as far afield as Northampton, Kettering
10 years, including Carmen, Madam Butterfly and La Traviata to name but three, always come away amazed at the professional standards seen
in performance and the wonderful overall quality of sound.

and Peterborough, and all rehearse for two hours every Tuesday evening and at least once a month for four hours on a Sunday.
Perhaps, finally I might add, the clue is in the name – Thrapston PLAZA Opera – for without The Plaza, our community facility in Cosy Nook,
I am often asked ‘How do you do it
in such a small town as Thrapston?’ My
first response always is that Thrapston is not so small really and that size is not everything!
Our opera productions are only made possible through the commitment and hard work of all those involved numbering at least 60 when performers, production team and front of house are all taken into account.
Chorus members, many of whom perform every year, take part for the fun of it and because they just enjoy singing. Those with principal parts - the main characters - are normally trained singers who undergo the
wonderfully maintained by Thrapston Town Council, it is doubtful if Thrapston could boast it’s own amateur Opera Company! Don’t take my word for it, come and see for yourself.
