                                 9 Platoon
Following a sterling performance in BATUS on Ex PRAIRIE STORM 3, 9 Platoon has seen substantial change, bringing with it plenty of welcomes and farewells. This has taken the utmost levels of management, patience and professionalism from all levels of personnel within the Platoon. They have done this admirably, ensuring we set firm foundations for 9 Platoon’s future success throughout the committed year and the training year beyond that.
The platoon have maintained their plethora of sporting pedigree, with three
of the four C Coy boxers represented in
the Battalion Boxing Night coming from
9 Platoon. Huge credit to Ptes Kent, Nicklin and Morrell for their dogged commitment and willingness to always do that little
bit extra in the pursuit of excellence. Feb 2016 saw our WR crews being scrambled together at short notice to assist the

Coy in manning the TFSU fleet as part
of Ex TRACTABLE. Throughout this they displayed utter professionalism and were a solid testament to our low-level readiness and capability. In spring, the main event was the Platoon deploying on Ex LIONS STRIKE. This was a first-class opportunity for the Platoon to shake out for the first time since BATUS and for the newly qualified soldiers to display their fledgling skills on Warrior. This placed a firm milestone in a period of change and thanks to their efforts they represented the platoon to the highest standard in front of all manner of other
cap badges and international Officers. The Platoon have now moved to the forefront of Defence Engagement; deploying as Short Term Training Teams to assist Ukrainian Armed forces to defend against state sponsored separatist aggression and I
am certain the soldiers of 9 Platoon will

continue to carry themselves to the highest standards throughout.
A warm welcome to all of our new Private Soldiers who have arrived in the current period: Ptes Wharton; Workman; Shaw; Whyte; Goodwin; Holmes; Higginbottom; Winnicott and Lagilagi. All of which have fully embraced the culture of an Armoured
Battalion and, in line with the 9 Platoon ethos, have thrown themselves in to everything that can be offered in a short period of time. Keep it up! We also welcome our new Platoon Sgt, Sgt Wright who in
a short space of time has impressively stamped his mark with his enthusiastic, collected and pragmatic leadership style.
